Northbound I-75 closes after rig smacks median

10/7/2001

Northbound I-75 was closed for almost 10 hours yesterday after a tractor-trailer struck a concrete median at the Detroit Avenue exit, rupturing a fuel tank and spilling diesel fuel, police said.

All four lanes of the interstate were closed while crews removed the truck and cleaned up the spilled fuel. Northbound traffic was forced to exit at Bancroft Street. The highway reopened at 9:30 a.m.

The truck driver's name was not available. He was not hurt.
