October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and products geared toward raising consciousness and money for research are appearing in retail stores. Among the offerings:

  • Cosmetics giants Estee Lauder and Clinique have October promotions with a different spin this year. Proceeds from Clinique's Think Pink and Estee Lauder's Pink Ribbon Collection campaigns will be split among the Breast Cancer Research Fund, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, and the Twin Towers Fund. Products include compacts and lipsticks.

  • Accessory maker Echo has designed a $25 logo scarf in four colors. Part of the proceeds will go to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for research. And Christopher Radko has created a heart-shaped breast cancer awareness glass ornament, which retails for $40.

Two fashion shows are set for this weekend in the Toledo area:

  • The Ladies Divan of Zenobia will hold a brunch and vintage fashion show at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zenobia Shrine, 1511 Madison Ave. Cost is $20. Thirteen models will model 56 outfits from CJ's Closet, A Change of Season, and Consign It. For reservations, call 893-6418.

  • The American Cancer Society and the Breast Health Coalition will hold a style show at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. Hors d'oeuvres and music start at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7. Reservations are required. To make reservations, call the society at 891-9200.
