Art helps healing

The art of young patients is being featured at an exhibit on the outpatient services skywalk at Mercy Children's Hospital called 'The Healing Arts.'

Frank Mazzei, 9, a cancer patient from Toledo, revisits his picture of Linus, the cartoon character. The Children's Miracle Network funded the art project.

'We wanted to make the benefits of therapeutic art available to pediatric inpatients,' said artist-in-residence Elliott Dobson.

'Through the choice of medium and themes, the child gains a sense of control and a safe outlet to express their feelings,' she added.
