Defiance College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the United Church of Christ. It offers 40 undergraduate majors as well as a master of arts in education and master of business and organizational leadership.

This four-year private liberal arts college offers undergraduate majors in the traditional liberal arts and sciences as well as business. Hillsdale is perhaps best known for its independence. It has not accepted government funding since the 1970s.

Founded in 1971, Lima Tech is spread over seven buildings on a 565-acre campus that is shared with Ohio State University at Lima. Lima Tech offers associate degrees to 2,800 students. There are more than 70 majors and certificate programs in four divisions.

Founded in 1917 as a nursing school, Mercy College of Northwest Ohio specializes in health-care education. The private, nonprofit school part of the Mercy Health Partners system and offers five associate degrees in addition to a bachelor's degree in nursing. Enrollment is 298.

Northwest, which became a community college in 1994, offers associate degree programs in a number of fields, including accounting, business management, and computer programming. Northwest State has 3,000 students.

Ohio Northern University has 3,200 students enrolled in its colleges of arts and sciences, business administration, engineering, pharmacy, and law. Founded in 1871, ONU is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

More than 17,000 students are enrolled in the Toledo-area and Findlay campuses of Owens Community College, where students choose from more than 100 career-oriented programs and majors in agriculture, business, health, public service, industrial, and engineering technologies.
Students can earn the first two years of a bachelor's degree at Owens, then transfer to a four-year institution as a junior. The college has articulation agreements with every college and university in northwest Ohio.
