2/23/2002

The Northwest Ohio Regional Technology Alliance has hired a new director.

Amy Whitehead of Cleveland, one of four finalists for the job, has been selected to oversee daily operations of the two-year-old alliance and will be introduced Tuesday. The job pays $82,000 a year.

Ms. Whitehead has a master of science degree in civil engineering from Cleveland State University and a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics and physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

She last worked as a regional manager for a dot.com, New Media Communications in Richfield, Ohio, and her background includes work in technology, business development, marketing and public relations, and development.

The alliance, which is under the umbrella of Toledo's Regional Growth Partnership, was formed to solidify the area's technology base, as well as to retain and attract technology-related entrepreneurs.

Ms. Whitehead replaces Mark Parr, who left the alliance in December when his contract expired. About 230 people applied for the position.
