Hazelnut Meringues

3 egg whites

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup ground hazelnuts

1 1/4 cups chopped hazelnuts

Cocoa for sprinkling, optional

Beat egg whites until frothy. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time beating well after each addition, until all sugar is incorporated and stiff peaks form. Fold nuts into mixture. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Form cookies using 2 teaspoons. Bake in preheated 275-degree oven for 30 minutes. Cocoa may be sprinkled on cookies after baking.
