Columbus Grove voters will decide on pool tax

COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio - Voters will decide in November whether residents should pay a special income tax to maintain and improve the village's historic swimming pool.

Village council decided Monday night to move ahead with plans to place a 15-year, 0.25 percent income tax on the ballot. The revenue generated from the tax would go into a pool improvement fund to be used to maintain, repair, and improve the pool and adjacent park area, said Janet Hermiller, clerk-treasurer.

The pool, which was built east of town by President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, needs major repair and restoration work to keep it in operation.

Also Monday, council appointed Ken Wright to fill the vacancy created when Councilman Gary McDougle died in June.
