BRYAN - A Bryan man has pleaded guilty in Williams County Common Pleas Court to shooting his live-in girlfriend in the head in May.

William Roberts, 40, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder with a gun specification and having weapons while under disability. Judge Anthony Gretick found Roberts guilty on the charges and scheduled sentencing for Aug. 27.

Authorities said Roberts shot Connie Olmstead, 55, at the couple's mobile home. She has since been released from a hospital, but she lost her left eye in the attack.

Bryan police were called to the scene on a report of a woman being beaten. When they arrived, Roberts barricaded himself inside the residence until he surrendered about four hours later.
