12/3/2002

RUDOLPH, Ohio - This Wood County hamlet's traditional holiday postmark began appearing on letters mailed here yesterday.

Apropos for the weather conditions, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is sporting a scarf this year, said Marsha Dietemyer, postmaster. Through Dec. 24, the post office expects to handstamp well over 100,000 pieces of mail with its unusual "reindeer station" postmark.

The post office at Mermill and Rudolph roads a mile west of State Rt. 25 is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
