Two people were hurt, one seriously, yesterday in two crashes that involved a car, a semi, and a pickup, and happened a minute and one block from each other on Crissey Road in Springfield Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Gabriel Marquez, 25, of Bowling Green, driver of the pickup, was in critical condition last night in Medical College of Ohio Hospitals.

Sherry Hawkins, 49, of Swanton, driver of the car, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, troopers said. The hospital released no information about her.

Kenneth Sloan, 53, of Lyons, Ohio, driver of the semi, was not hurt, troopers said.

Ms. Hawkins was eastbound on Old State Line Road about 10:35 a.m. and failed to stop at a stop sign at Crissey. Her car was struck by the semi, which was northbound on Crissey.

She left the scene northbound on Crissey, and a minute later hit the rear of the Marquez pickup that was stopped at Hill Avenue, troopers said.

The crashes remain under investigation, troopers said.
