Bringing down the dam

Jeremy Twigg of the Camp Quilter Civilian Conservation Corps breaks a hole in the 60-year-old St. John's Dam on the Sandusky River, just south of Tiffin. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, with the CCC's help, will spend the next two to three weeks removing the 150-foot-wide dam. A 1999 state inspection determined the dam should either be repaired or taken out.
