UF to build ‘Box City' for homeless awareness

4/9/2003

FINDLAY — Students and faculty members at the University of Findlay plan to build and sleep in cardboard houses tomorrow night in an effort known as “Box City.”

The event is being held to raise awareness about poverty, homelessness, and the work of Habitat for Humanity, college officials said.

Box City is a part of a national, student-initiated event to advocate affordable housing. Five other Ohio colleges and universities are participating.

At the University of Findlay, students will begin building cardboard homes at 3 p.m. on the campus grounds. Information about affordable housing will be provided, in addition to student-led discussions on the topic.
