Car hits teen on U.S. 6, causing critical injuries

SANDUSKY — A 17-year-old Michigan boy was hurt seriously yesterday when he was hit by a car while crossing U.S. 6, west of Perkins Avenue, in Erie County's Huron Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Thomas Coyro of St. Clair Shores, Mich., initially was treated at Firelands Community Hospital, Sandusky, then taken by Life Fight to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. He was admitted in critical condition.

Stephanie Durphy, 22, of Huron, Ohio, was driving eastbound on U.S. 6 about 12:40 a.m. when she hit the youth as he tried to cross from the south to the north side of the highway. Ms. Durphy was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
