Regional jail to hike bed fee

STRYKER, Ohio - The Corrections Commission of Northwest Ohio agreed yesterday to implement an additional $1.25 daily bed fee at the regional jail starting Jan. 1.

The rate, which would be used to fund a capital improvement budget for the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, would be in addition to the 2004 per diem bed rate. The daily bed fee now is $56.60.

The new special rate is expected to generate more than $292,000 annually and close to $1.4 million over the next five years, officials said.
