MONROE — An early-morning accident shut down the northbound lanes of I-75 for about two hours yesterday and injured an Erie, Mich. man, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.
Richard McCloskey, 64, was in fair condition last night at Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, where he was flown after the collision, which occurred about 5:45 a.m. at LaPlaisance Road.
Deputies said Mr. McCloskey's small car was slowing for a construction zone in the north|bound lanes when it was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer rig. The name of the rig's driver was unavailable last night.
The collision sandwiched Mr. McCloskey's car between two tractor-trailer rigs, forcing firefighters to cut him from his vehicle, deputies said.
