Lake Erie shoreline grants are available

10/20/2003

CATAWBA ISLAND, Ohio - Ohio officials are encouraging lakefront communities to apply for $250,000 in state grants for projects that would help preserve, protect, or enhance the Lake Erie coastline.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Office of Coastal Management is accepting applications from local governments, not-for-profit organizations, and educational institutions.

Applications will be accepted until Dec. 5.

The funds are available to coastal communities as they plan for growth, develop land-use plans, and address recreational or tourism issues, Mr. Redfern said.
