Jordyn Nicholson of Haskins, a state finalist for the Junior Pre-Teen contest in Ohio, competed in the National American Miss Pageant in July in Columbus. She won a trophy for outstanding program participation and another trophy for being a state finalist. She has already been chosen a state finalist for the pageant in July 2005.

Jordyn has been a junior cheerleader for the Otsego Knights for the past two years and is also involved in the Girl Scouts. She will be in the third grade this fall.

Vincent Cortez and Matthew Gillispie of Boy Scout Troop 39 are the 79th and 80th Eagle Scouts of their troop.

They were awarded their Eagle rank in ceremonies earlier this year at Rosary Cathedral.

Vincent will be a senior this year at Sylvania Northview High School. For his Eagle project, he arrranged for and made markers for trees donated to the Agnes Reynolds Jackson Arboretum.

Matthew will be a senior at iylvania Southview High School.

His Eagle project involved arranging for parking duty for the two-day installation of Bishop Leonard Blair at Rosary Cathedral.
