Rainy weather prolongs work on Central Avenue

Last week's rainy weather has delayed completion of drainage work in a construction zone on Central Avenue in Sylvania Township, forcing nighttime lane closings to continue through this week, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced.

ODOT originally expected the night-time closings between I-475 and McCord Road to end last night, but said on Friday that the wet conditions have forced a one-week extension.

The rain also has delayed the completion of deck patching on two bridges on the southbound side of the Anthony Wayne Trail just south of I-75 in Toledo.

Concrete that was placed in the patches yesterday - two days late because of the weather - will need three days to cure, David Moebius, the city commissioner of Streets, Bridges, and Harbor, said yesterday.

One of the two southbound lanes will remain closed until, at the soonest, the evening rush hour on Tuesday, Mr. Moebius said.
