Montpelier line break prompts water advisory

8/30/2004

MONTPELIER, Ohio Residents were urged to boil drinking water after a 12-inch water main broke yesterday along Brown Road in the village s southeast corner.

We don t think there has been any contamination, but we put the boil advisory out for the health and safety of the community, said Bill Blakely, the village s water superintendent.

The break was discovered about 3:30 a.m. after a low water pressure alarm sounded at the water plant, he said. A repair crew had the leak under control by about 4:20 a.m.

More sampling of water today will determine when the advisory will be lifted, Mr. Blakely said.

Authorities suggest boiling water for at least one minute prior to use in cooking or for drinking.
