Senior activities: Wood County

SENIOR CENTER

305 North Main St., Bowling Green.

Sept. 16: Game night, 6:15 p.m. Light refreshments served. Cost, $1.

Sept. 20: Trip to the Butterfly House, 1 to 3 p.m. at $8, leaving from the center. Call for reservations.

Sept. 21: Celebrate apples day, 12:45 p.m. Apple tasting, stories, recipes. Pinochle card class, 1 to 2 p.m. Euchre card class, 2-3 p.m. Registration required.

Sept. 23: Open house, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, salad served; entertainment and information. Call 1-800-367-4935 for reservations by Sept. 20.

Sept. 23: Arts and crafts class, 10 a.m. Call for fee information and to register.

Oct. 16: Fall harvest festival, 4 to 6 p.m. at the center, $5. Soup and sandwich and dessert, games and prizes. Tickets on sale beginning Sept. 13.

Third, fourth Thursdays: 6:15 p.m. dominoes tournament; registration required.

Fridays: free watercolor classes at 10 a.m. Bring supplies.

Tuesdays: male fitness club 9-10 a.m. Computer sessions, 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m.; call for reservations.

Wednesdays: Golden Mile Club walks 8:30-10 a.m. at various locations. In July, ballroom dance class and dancing, 7-9:30 p.m. at the City Park-Veterans Building. $4 per session for instruction, light refreshments.

Daily: billiards.

Weekdays: Lunch at noon, $2; no reservations required. Dinners at 5:30 p.m. served Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, reservations required by 2 p.m. the day of the meal. Dinner coupons, $4, available at the center.

Apple Butter Festival volunteers needed at the Grand Rapids fire hall downtown, 8 a.m. Sept. 23, to peel apples for the Sept. 25 big stir. Lunch served at noon and 5:30 p.m. Peelers also needed Oct. 7, lunch available.

Senior legal representative available each month at the center; appointments required. Registration: 419-353-5661.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Bingo, 10 a.m.-noon.

Tuesdays: Game day for playing cards and dominoes, 10 a.m.-noon.

Wednesdays, except the second week each month: free blood-pressure screenings and health counseling for ages 60 and over, 9 a.m.-noon.

Thursdays: Educational movies or a speaker, 10 a.m.-noon.

Weekdays: Hot lunches for seniors 60 and older, with reservations due a day in advance. Donation for lunch is $1.75. Reservations: 419-865-1340 or 419-868-1340.

Musician volunteers needed to perform for the residents.

Wednesdays: Gospel Singers meet 9:15 a.m., Center Singers at 10 a.m. Bingo at 12:45 p.m. and Body Recall at 1:15 p.m. Organ lessons, 3 and 4 p.m.

Mondays, Thursdays: Water aerobics at the South YMCA, 1 p.m.

Relaxing chair massage, 1 to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday each month. $10 per 15 minute session for seniors age 60 plus.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Body Recall exercise classes for beginners at 8:15 am. and 3 p.m. and at 9:15 a.m. for advanced classes. Cost, $25 per month.

Tuesdays: luncheon activity, 11:30 a.m. followed by a program. Call for menu and program information. Lunch is $1.50, reservations requested.
