Perrysburg man on bike struck by minivan

A Perrysburg Township man was in critical condition yesterday after he was hit by a minivan while he was riding a bicycle in the township.

Harold L. Carstensen, 61, of Lime City Road, was being treated in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

He was flown to the hospital by medical helicopter after the accident Friday afternoon.

The van driver, Michael Lehman, 33, of Waterville, was treated and released from the hospital.

Mr. Carstensen was riding south on Lime City Road, crossing State Rt. 795, when he was struck by Mr. Lehman's eastbound van in the eastbound lanes of the State Rt. 795, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Mr. Carstensen was not wearing a helmet. Mr. Lehman was wearing a seat belt, they said.

No charges have been filed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
