ADRIAN

  • Performances of Once Upon a Mattress will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Adrian College's Dawson Auditorium on Charles Street. Shows start at 8 p.m. each day. Tickets are $8 for the general public, and $5 for seniors. Call the theater department for further information.

  • Four members of the 2000 Electoral College will participate in a panel discussion starting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at Ohio Northern University. Two are Republicans from Ohio and Missouri; the other two are Democrats from Pennsylvania and Maryland. The 90-minute event is free.

    ARCHBOLD

  • G. Michael Pratt, anthropology professor at Heidelberg College, will present an illustrated lecture on the preliminary findings of the Lauber Hill archaeology project at 7:30 p.m. today in the Sauder Heritage Inn. The data gained from the project will be used to create a more accurate Lauber Cabin in Sauder Village. The talk is free. For more information, call Sauder Village.

    BLUFFTON

  • Bluffton University students, faculty, and staff will present a slice of Bluffton through words, music, and visual images at a forum entitled "Bluffton University: Embracing Tradition, Expecting Great Things," at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

    BOWLING GREEN

  • Bowling Green State University will host a free seminar for adults considering starting or returning to college from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in 1 College Park Office Building.

  • Adults 21 and older are invited to enjoy wine, snacks, and entertainment while waiting for the lunar eclipse from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Otsego Park's Stone Hall at State Routes 235 and 65. Bring your own wine and a lawn chair. Call the Wood County Park District to register.

  • Downtown merchants will hand out goodies to trick or treaters from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Participating businesses will be marked with orange paper pumpkins.

  • Preschoolers ages 3 to 5 1/2 with an adult companion can learn how to make butter and apple cider the old-fashioned way at the Carter Loomis Farm park from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Call the Wood County Park District to register.

    FINDLAY

  • The Hancock Park District will host its 8th annual nonscary Halloween hike beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at Litzenberg Memorial Woods on U.S. 224 west of Findlay. Advance reservations and a fee of $3 per person are required by today; contact the Hancock Park District.

  • Author John Moore will appear 6 p.m. Wednesday at Owens Community College's Findlay campus to talk about his book, A Positive Attitude is a Muscle: A Managed Stress Survivor's Manual. The talk is free and takes place in Room 178 in the Owens building at Cory and Davis streets.

    MARBLEHEAD

  • Ottawa County children between 8 and 10 can learn first aid from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Danbury Elementary School. The American Red Cross is offering a Basic Aid Training course to teach children to identify harmful situations, treat common injuries, and respond to emergencies. Students must attend both sessions. Cost is $20, and class size is limited to 15. For information, call the Ottawa County office of the Red Cross.

    MONTPELIER

  • Pete Schlegel and his Tru South band, along with Brooks Atwood, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday in the show pavilion at the Williams County fairgrounds. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 on the day of the show. Tickets can be bought at the Williams County Fair secretary's office.

    TOLEDO

  • The Toledo Camera Club will meet today at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Toledo Botanical Gardens. The meeting is free.

  • Viewing of the lunar eclipse, weather permitting, will take place from 9 p.m. to midnight Wednesday at the University of Toledo's Ritter Planetarium. Admission is $2 for people aged 5 and older, and those interested should meet in the first floor lobby of McMaster Hall.

  • Candidates for the offices of county commissioner, treasurer, sheriff, recorder, and clerk of courts will participate in a debate at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at UT's Scott Park Auditorium. The free event, sponsored by the UT Latino Alumni Affiliate, is open to the public.

  • UT's Ritter Planetarium will host "Horror Stories" at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Participants will hear some classic horror stories associated with the stars. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and children age 4 to 12, and free for children under age 4. Observing the stars will follow the program, weather permitting, at Brooks or Ritter Observatory.

  • For an entertaining and informative look at the moon, UT's Ritter Planetarium will host "The Moon Witch" at 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and children age 4 to 12, and free for children under age 4. Observing the stars will follow the program, weather permitting, at Brooks or Ritter Observatory.
