Gibsonburg mayor quits, cites concern for health

3/18/2005

GIBSONBURG, Ohio - Little more than a year after a one-vote victory returned her to the mayor's office, Lois Larson has stepped down as Gibsonburg's top official, citing health reasons.

Ms. Larson, who resigned last week, has been replaced by council President Edward Herman, who will serve at least until the end of the year. Mr. Herman said yesterday he would run in November to fill the last two years of Ms. Larson's unexpired term.

Ms. Larson, who was mayor from 1991 to 1999, won her job back in November, 2003, by edging then-Mayor Jerry Widmer, 290-289.
