WESTON, Ohio - A 14-year-old boy was shot in the side with an arrow yesterday and was flown by medical helicopter to Toledo Hospital, the Wood County Sheriff's Office said.

His condition could not be determined last night because Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn refused to release the boy's name, saying his office is still investigating the matter.

Chief Deputy Eric Reynolds said the incident appears to be an accident. The injured boy and two others, both 13 whose names also were withheld, were target shooting about noon outside a house in the 14000 block of Euler Road in rural Weston.

The injured boy was shot with an arrow from a youth-sized compound bow owned by the boy who shot him.
