Sylvania: First Arbor Day set

Sylvania: First Arbor Day set

Sylvania will hold its annual Arbor Day tree planting on April 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the city's administration building.

The occasion will mark the city's 23rd consecutive designation as a "Tree City USA" from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

One of the requirements for the designation is an Arbor Day observance.

Cities also must have a comprehensive forestry program with an officer and board members and must have an ordinance covering tree care.

Area school children will help plant the tree that has been donated by the Sylvania Rotary Club.
