DUNDEE, Mich. - At least six people were hurt and hundreds stranded yesterday after a southbound gravel hauler overturned on U.S. 23 near Ida West Road, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

The victims' names and conditions weren't available last night. All were taken by air or land ambulances to Toledo-area hospitals, sheriff's Capt. Dan Motylinski said.

None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, he said, although the gravel hauler's driver suffered a head injury and was flown to Toledo Hospital.

About 1:25 p.m. the gravel hauler went through the median and overturned, spreading stone over U.S. 23. Traffic was stopped nearly three hours. U.S. 23 reopened about 4 p.m.
