Perrysburg Township hires consultant

Employees in Perrysburg Township's administration building could be looking at more elbow room in the future.

Township trustees last night selected an architectural firm to perform an engineering study on the Lime City Road building to see what could be done to ease the overcrowding.

Vetter Design Group was chosen to complete the architectural study for no more than $10,800, said John Hrosko, township administrator.

Vetter will inspect the current facilities and give recommendations for expansion, said Fire Chief Michael Dimick.

"We are strapped for room," he said.

The trustees also approved a fact finder report that looked into contract negotiations with police dispatchers. Mr. Hrosko said the report agrees mostly with the township's position, but would not comment further on the report or provide a copy to The Blade, citing advice.

It is now up to the police dispatchers to approve the terms, which they have not yet done, Mr. Hrosko said.

In other township business, the trustees approved a resolution to permit Buckeye Cablevision Inc. to operate a telecommunication system in the township.

Approved yesterday was a revised version of an earlier resolution.

The changes include that the company will clearly mark any above-ground equipment with pink and orange paint and the township will not be responsible for any damage to equipment not marked, and the company is responsible to move the equipment or pay the township to do so if road maintenance is needed.

The trustees agreed to buy road salt from Morton International of Chicago for $32.98 per ton.

The township uses an average of about 2,000 to 2,200 tons of salt every season.

They agreed to renew a contract with Software Solutions Maintenance for $3,644 for updates and repairs to the system the township uses for its financial management.
