Vehicular homicide charges expected
7/31/2005A Lucas County grand jury will likely be asked this week to indict a Toledo man on a pair of aggravated vehicular homicide charges for a traffic accident that left two people dead and four people injured in the city's south end on Friday night, a police officer said yesterday.
Investigators had not finished their report yesterday afternoon of the five-vehicle pileup near Swan Creek Metropark. But they are expected to meet with prosecutors tomorrow to go over evidence that could be presented to the grand jury. Prosecutors are then expected to seek an aggravated vehicular homicide charge for each of the two deaths, Officer Chuck Turner said.
Marilyn Williams, 68, of 2047 Cummings Ave. and her daughter, Deborah Williams, 37, of 525 Ogden Ave., were pronounced dead at the scene. The two had been riding in a car driven by another one of Mrs. Williams' daughters, Stacy Williams, 36, of 523 Toronto Ave., according to a press release issued by police.
The release stated that Michael Mick, 50, of 1044 Kinder Rd. was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Glendale Avenue near Heatherton Drive about 7:15 p.m.
His car collided first with a sport utility vehicle driven by Beverly Molden, 50, of 3848 Beverly Hills Dr., then with the Williams car. The Williams car was struck on the right front. It ended up in a westbound lane of Glendale as a result of the collision, where it was struck again - on the left rear passenger door by a westbound car driven by Ronald Honse II, 23, of 14982 Ida Center Rd., Petersburg, Mich., police said.
Ms. Molden's SUV rolled over. A rear tire that came off her vehicle struck an eastbound car driven by Myra Pruitt, 56, of 3541 Muirfield Ave., which also had been heading east on Glendale.
Ms. Williams and Mr. Mick were transported to Medical University of Ohio Medical Center, which yesterday released no information about them.
Ms. Molden and her passenger, James Molden, 23, of 1954 Calumet Ave., were treated at St. Luke's Hospital. Ms. Pruitt and Mr. Honse were not injured, police said.
