    BLUFFTON

  • The Grace Albrecht Gallery at Bluffton University will host "The Hidden Wholeness: The Zen Photography of Thomas Merton" beginning Friday through Sept. 25. On loan from the Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine University, the exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery, which is inside the Sauder Visual Arts Center, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. weekends.

    BOWLING GREEN

  • Recycled Percussion will perform at 9:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Lenhart Grand Ballroom on the Bowling Green State University campus.

  • Wood Lane will dedicate its new gymnasium at the Bowling Green Community Center, 1241 Newton Rd., at 5 p.m. Wednesday in honor of longtime volunteer and board member Dolores A. Black. The dedication will take place during a reception scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

  • The Wood County Park District will present a program from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at park district headquarters on Mercer Road on what gardeners can do this fall to help save the ash tree from extinction. Register online at www.wcparks.org.

  • Search for butterflies and their larvae at the Cedar Creeks Preserve near State Rt. 51 and Walbridge Road from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. Register online at www.wcparks.org.

    FINDLAY

  • The Flag City Balloon Fest, a North American Balloon Association-sanctioned event, will be Friday through Sunday at Emory Adams Park at Blanchard and Sixth streets.     LAKESIDE

  • Lakeside will sponsor its 45th annual Antique Show from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in and around Wesley Lodge and South Auditorium. About 80 dealers from five states are expected to offer wares including furniture, pottery, jewelry, toys, quilts, and sporting goods. Admission to the show is $4 and entitles visitors to five hours on the Lakeside grounds.

    LIMA

  • Local genealogical researcher Jeanne Porreca will present "A Portuguese Baroness from Lima," the story of Dora Metzger, daughter of a local physician who married Andrew Vincent Patterson, a Standard Oil executive who received the tile of "baron" from the king of Portugal, at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Allen County Museum on West Market Street. It is free and open to the public.

    PORT CLINTON

  • The American Red Cross is offering a First Aid Basics class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the first-floor conference room of Magruder Hospital, 615 Fulton St. There is a fee. Participants must preregister by calling the American Red Cross or emailing redcross@thirdplanet.net.

  • View the wildflowers and grasses of the planted prairies at Edison Woods Preserve during a van ride from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Meet in the preserving parking lot off State Rt. 61.

    TOLEDO

  • The Rotary Club of Toledo will host Geof McKisson and Do Nguyen at a noon luncheon today at Zenobia Shrine, 511 Madison Ave., for a presentation on the Development of Vietnam Endeavors Fund.

  • The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio will hold a public discussion on family privacy and military recruitment at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Sanger branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 3030 West Central Ave.

  • The Area Office on Aging's Kinship Navigator Program will distribute school supplies to 70 families of grandparents and other relatives raising children at a picnic at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Walbridge Park shelter house on Broadway opposite the Toledo Zoo.

  • Dance, eat, and hear music at the Party-in-the-Parking Lot benefit to raise money for Community Shares of Northwest Ohio on Thursday at the Jack Gallon Building, 3516 Granite Circle, off Meijer Road at West Central Avenue. Tickets are $35 each.

  • Toledo Home Instead Senior Care is sponsoring a benefit for the Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk with casino games, game shows,s and a silent auction from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the Toledo Club, 235 14th St. Tickets at $25 each are available at the Home Instead Senior Care office, 2509 West Sylvania Ave.
