Race for the Cure to close streets

Several downtown streets will be closed tomorrow for the Race for the Cure 5K race and walk, city officials announced.

Starting at 6 a.m., southbound Summit Street will be closed at Jackson Street, and Summit will be closed to traffic in both directions between Lafayette and Monroe streets. Summit will reopen at 9:30 a.m.

The following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. until noon: St. Clair and Huron streets each between Lafayette and Monroe; Washington Street between Erie and Summit streets; Gratiot Street between Washington and Monroe; Perry Street between St. Clair and Summit, and Superior Street between Lafayette and Washington.

Other streets along the race route, which uses Summit from Washington to Bush Street, Bush to Erie, Erie to Magnolia Street, and Magnolia to Huron and then back downtown to Fifth Third Field, will be closed briefly.

That night, work on the High Level Bridge will close the span from 8:30 to 9:30.
