BGSU trustees approve plan to buy state building

10/9/2005

BOWLING GREEN - The Bowling Green State University board of trustees, in a three-minute-long special meeting yesterday, gave the administration authority to buy property at 400 East Poe Rd. owned by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The property includes an 11,600-square-foot office building on a 1.48-acre plot and a 60-vehicle parking lot. The parcel is no longer used by Job and Family Services.

The trustees' resolution is contingent on the price not exceeding $900,000, and completion of a feasibility study. The trustees said that money for the purchase has to come from a 2004 bond that was issued for property acquisitions.

University officials have discussed relocating offices there that don't need to be centrally located, freeing up space on the main campus, said Teri Sharp, a BGSU spokesman.
