Painesville man dies in collision on U.S. 6

McCLURE, Ohio - A Cleveland-area man was killed in a crash on U.S. 6 in Henry County yesterday when his car went left of center and collided head on with a dump truck, the sheriff's office said.

Michael Mattis, 40, of Painesville, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred about 9:30 a.m., about a mile west of McClure, according to sheriff's deputies.

Mr. Mattis, who was driving west on U.S. 6 near County Road 5A, crossed the center line, and was struck by an eastbound dump truck belonging to the Williams County Engineer's Office. The dump truck was driven by Larry Jones, Sr., 52, of the Bryan area., the sheriff's office said.
