WAUSEON - The Fulton County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities unanimously approved a one-year contract extension this week with a 2 percent pay raise for its superintendent, and created a position of a part-time assistant for the superintendent.

Brenda Oyer, who has been superintendent for a year at a salary of $70,000, is to be paid an additional $1,400 this year.

On Monday the board also created a 24-hour-a-week position to assist the superintendent with personnel and other matters. The position is to pay $15 to $18 an hour, plus some benefits.

"I really have been so consumed with some of the day-to-day stuff that I haven't had time to go out and do public education," Ms. Oyer said.
