Fostoria adds first of 5 planned for police ranks

FOSTORIA The first of five Fostoria police officers who will be hired in the next five weeks was sworn in yesterday by Mayor John Davoli.

The new officer is Tim Saltzman, a graduate of Vanlue High School. Mr. Saltzman has been working as a Wood County sheriff s deputy since December. Before that, he was employed by the National Security Agency in Washington, but returned to northwest Ohio because his wife did not like living in the nation s capital.

Before going to Washington, Mr. Saltzman was a corrections officer for Hancock County.
