Pioneering sports writer recalls father on 'Editors'

5/19/2006

Toledo native Christine Brennan, who blazed a trail for women sports writers and is nationally known for her sports column in USA Today, will share information about her new book on this week's edition of The Editors.

Titled Best Seat in the House: A Father, A Daughter, A Journey Through Sports, the book tells the story of her upbringing in Ottawa Hills and how her father, Jim Brennan, played a key role in her pursuit of sports and sports writing. Namely, she reminisces about her trips to college football games and Mud Hens games with her father at a time when very few girls played sports, much less watched them.

Ms. Brennan has written several books, including her successful book on Olympic ice skating, Inside Edge. Her new release is a memoir.

The Editors will be broadcast at 9 tonight on WGTE-TV, Channel 30, and 12:30 p.m. Sunday on WBGU, Channel 27.
