Findlay man hurt in May 1 crash dies

5/26/2006

A Findlay man died yesterday, nearly four weeks after he was involved in a two-car accident that killed a woman and injured two men at Indiana Avenue and Collingwood Boulevard.

Ralph Coleman, 45, was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m. at Fremont Memorial Hospital. About 45 minutes earlier, he was found face-down next to his bed at St. Francis Rehabilitation Center, Green Springs, Ohio, where he was taken after being released from St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he was admitted after the accident, authorities said.

He was a passenger in a car driven by Richard Miller, 66, of Findlay. A passenger in the other car, Patricia Mason, 53, of 635 Avondale Ave., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on May 1.

The driver of her car, Reginald Dixon, 47, also of the Avondale address, was intoxicated at the time. According to police, Mr. Dixon had a blood-alcohol level of 0.210 percent, which is about twice the legal limit for a motorist in Ohio.

Mr. Dixon was eastbound on Indiana when his car collided with Mr. Miller's car, which was southbound on Collingwood. Mr. Miller and Mr. Dixon were released May 9 from St. Vincent.

No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.
