Monroeville woman dies after van-pickup crash in Huron County

7/2/2006

NORWALK, Ohio - A Monroeville, Ohio, woman was killed yesterday when her pickup was hit by a van at Greenwich Milan Town Line Road and Zenobia Road east of here in Huron County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Lucinda R. Wegner, 44, was flown to University Medical Center in Toledo, where she was pronounced dead at 5:18 p.m., troopers at the patrol's Norwalk post said.

Mrs. Wegner was westbound on Zenobia about 3:30 p.m. when she was hit by the van being driven northbound on Greenwich Milan Town Line by Roger L. Quinn, 46, of Big Prairie, Ohio.

Mr. Quinn apparently failed to yield at the stop sign and hit the driver's side of Mrs. Wegner's truck, sending both vehicles off the northwest corner of the intersection. Mrs. Wegner's truck rolled onto its top, troopers said.

Mr. Quinn and his passengers, Diane M. Moritz, 47, and Alexis L. Foster, 3, both of Big Prarie, were flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Mr. Quinn and young Foster were in the emergency room last night and their conditions were not available; Ms. Moritz was in surgery, a hospital spokesman said.
