CASTALIA, Ohio - A motorcyclist was in fair condition yesterday in a Cleveland hospital where he was taken after a collision with a pickup in Erie County, authorities said.

Louis W. Jensen, 63, of Vermilion, Ohio, was flown to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center after the 7:35 p.m. Sunday crash, according to troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol's Sandusky post.

Hospital officials said Mr. Jensen was in fair condition.

Mr. Jensen was headed west on Mason Road in Margaretta Township, approaching Maple Avenue, when a pickup driven by Donald Weyer, 50, of Sandusky, heading east on Mason, pulled in front of him while turning north at the intersection, troopers said.

Mr. Jensen ran into the pickup's side and was thrown from his motorcycle, the troopers said. He was wearing a helmet.

Mr. Weyer was not injured and he was cited for failing to yield.

The crash remains under investigation.
