PORTAGE - A train and tractor-trailer collided last night on Portage Road west of State Rt. 25, the Wood County's sheriff's office reported.

The collision occurred about 10:30 p.m. when the tractor-trailer was headed eastbound on Portage and the train was headed north on the CSX railroad tracks, deputies said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was not identified yesterday, was not hurt, deputies said.

The cab of the tractor-trailer, which was a moving van hauling furniture and other items, was separated from the trailer in the collision, and items inside the trailer were strewn about the area after the wreck, deputies said.

No hazardous materials were believed to be on the train, which sustained relatively minor damage, the sheriff's office reported.
