Holland Huckleberry . . . does not see his shadow

Holland Huckleberry, the Toledo area's resident groundhog, did not see his shadow this morning, report owners Terri and Charles Hoag of Springfield Township.

If "Huck" is right, that means we should see an early spring. And with the weather forecast for this weekend calling for daytime highs in the teens and overnight lows reaching zero, most people are hoping this Groundhog Day forecast is on the mark.

The Ohio groundhog s more famous neighbor, Punxsutawney Phil, also predicted spring would arrive sooner rather than later when he didn t see his shadow a few minutes earlier in Pennsylvania.
