Truck to leave Waterville with food for Floridians

2/6/2007

A tractor-trailer loaded with 44,000 pounds of canned goods and crackers to help feed victims of a series of Florida tornadoes is to leave today from the Waterville warehouse of International Services of Hope/ IMPACT.

Twenty people died and dozens of others were hurt by the tornadoes as they tore through central Florida early Friday.

Stan Greene, the nonprofit ministry s chief logistics officer, said it collects the foodstuffs throughout the year from manufacturers in preparation for such disaster relief efforts.

The ministry is seeking donations of additional canned goods at its warehouse at 905 Farnsworth Rd., Waterville, to help fill another relief trailer for Florida tornado victims.
