Turnpike awards work for 3 overpass overhauls

2/27/2007

The Ohio Turnpike Commission yesterday awarded a $2 million contract to an Oregon firm to overhaul three overpasses in Fulton County, but rejected the sole bid for a resurfacing project in Williams County.

A $2,008,518 bid from the E.S. Wagner Co. of Oregon was the lowest of four proposals the commission received for repair work on the bridges carrying Fulton County Roads 6-2, 5-2, and 4 over the turnpike.

The commission hired DGL Consulting Engineers LLC of Maumee for project administration and inspection, and Professional Service Industries Inc. of Cleveland for materials testing.

But the sole bid for a nine-mile resurfacing project in Williams County was rejected because the turnpike staff said a proposal from Gerken Paving of Napoleon was 10.3 percent above the engineer s estimate. The project will be readvertised.
