ROSSFORD ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL FULFILLS HIS PROMISE

Summary:  As an incentive for students to do well on their state  proficiency tests, Glenwood Elementary School Principal Bill Buzzell promised to shave his head if they met a 90 percent rate on a checklist that teachers had which ensured that students completed the tests using the proper techniques.  Mr. Buzzell and four other male teachers had their heads shaved and two female teachers had their hair dyed by students. Mr. Buzzell agreed to have his head shaved if sixth-grade students at Glenwood met his standard for the state proficiency tests. Sixth-grade teachers also participated

in the end-of-year incentives, either having their heads shaved or having their hair dyed by the students.
