FREMONT The position of executive director of the Sandusky County Economic Development Corp. will officially become vacant on Sunday.

Wes Fahrbach has resigned from the position that he s held since April, 2006, to accept a staff position with U.S. Sen. George Voinovich (R., Ohio).

Mr. Fahrbach said he would be available to assist the economic development corporation until a successor is named.

When he was hired at the nonprofit corporation last year, he had just retired from the Ohio Department of Development, where he served 14 years as the governor s regional development representative for northwest Ohio.

Before that, he served 11 years as a Sandusky County commissioner. During that time, he was one of the three founders of the development group and served as the president of its board in 1984.
