The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library has introduced a new text-messaging system to make information more accessible to its patrons.
The system is used to inform patrons of due dates, item availability, and other special requests and announcements.
The library set up the text message software through the company Velti.
The service allows tech-savvy patrons to communicate with the library on their personal cell phones instead of making a trip to the library or checking their account on a computer.
The text message service is only available to library cardholders with text messaging capabilities on their cell phones or mobile devices. Those interested can register for the service at the Main Library, branches, or Outreach Services, the bookmobile.
