Recyclers will accept electronics

6/21/2007

Lucas County residents can recycle electronic waste for free at the Lucas County Recreation Center from 1 to 4 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The District E-Waste Program is designed to offer residents an alternative for recycling such electronic devices as cell phones, computers, CDs, floppy disks, computer peripherals, desktops, DVDs, laptops, microwave ovens, MP3 players, household items, printers, stereos, televisions, VCRs, and videotapes.

The event is made possible by a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention.

Residents also can bring up to 50 pounds of personal documents to the event. Lott Industries will take the material to its site for destruction at no charge.

After this weekend's event, residents may call the Lucas County Solid Waste Management District at 419-213-2230 or go to its Web site, www.co.lucas.oh.us/lcswmd, to schedule an appointment to recycle their e-waste.
