Ohio gets $2M for border protection

PORT CLINTON A $2 million Homeland Security grant to support Ohio s Northern Border Initiative was announced yesterday at Port Clinton s Catawba Island Club during an Ohio Homeland Security event.

The grant, which is a preliminary award, is to assist federal, state, and local law enforcement in a collaborative effort along Ohio s international maritime border and the Lake Erie shoreline.

Yesterday s event urged participation in the See something. Say Something. public awareness campaign to educate Ohioans on the possible signs of terrorism.

It was led by Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Henry Guzman, Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Sean D. Logan, and Ohio Homeland Security Executive Director William Vedra as well as local law enforcement and community leaders.
