GILBOA, Ohio A Dayton-area diving instructor who died Friday after attempting a dive at Gilboa Quarry most likely died of natural causes, the Allen County coroner said yesterday.

Dr. Gary Beasley said preliminary autopsy findings indicate Van A. Losh, 60, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died of natural causes, although he could not be more specific.

A final ruling will not be made until toxicology and other test results are received, the coroner said.

Mr. Losh was at the Putnam County quarry with friends when he reportedly encountered problems and surfaced. His fellow divers saw him break the surface and then completed their dive. But when they surfaced, they found Mr. Losh in the water and began administering CPR. He was flown to St. Rita s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio, where he was pronounced dead.
