7/9/2007

DEFIANCE Safety improvements along State Rt. 66 in Defiance will be made with a $1 million Small City Transportation Program grant that the Ohio Department of Transportation announced late last week.

The work in Defiance, for which the state grant provides 80 percent funding, is among 13 projects statewide, including two others in northwest Ohio.

In Bryan, a $374,456 grant will help provide for resurfacing and widening of U.S. 127 (South Main Street).

In Clyde, a $132,000 grant will help pay for the addition of a pedestrian-bicycle lane along State Rt. 101.

Cities with populations between 5,000 and 24,999 that are not members of a metropolitan planning organization are eligible for the Small City Transportation Program funds.

Statewide, the transportation agency announced $19 million in grants. Schedules for the work were not included.
