OTTAWA, Ohio - A 75-year-old Findlay man died yesterday after the car he was driving and a heavy-duty pickup truck collided at Putnam County Roads H and 7 between Ottawa and Leipsic, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Hubert G. Doerfler was pronounced dead in St. Rita's Mercy Medical Center in Lima about two hours after the accident.

The truck driver, Carl J. Gerten, 50, of Leipsic, Ohio, was treated at Lima Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Doerfler was driving west on Road H in Blanchard Township about 8:30 a.m. and Mr. Gerten was driving north on Road 7.

The truck and the car collided, forcing the car into a utility pole and a sign before coming to rest, troopers at the patrol's Lima post said.

The intersection is governed by four-way stop signs.

The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
